Blog 8 Digestive System What I Learned

I learned that the digestive system is made up of the digestive tract or a series of organs that help break down and absorb food. Organs that make up the digestive tract are the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and anus. I learned the importance of the digestive system is to break down food into smaller molecules in order for it to be absorbed into the blood and carried throughout the body. Digestion is the process by which food and drink are broken down into their smallest parts so the body can use them to build and nourish cells and to provide energy. It is a very long and complicated process that involves many gastric juices.
